About Auburn Skatepark in Eckart Park
Nestled within the scenic grounds of Eckhart Park in Auburn, Indiana, lies a 13,500-square-foot concrete masterpiece that effortlessly bridges the gap between local history and modern skate culture. Built by the renowned craftsmanship of Hunger Skateparks, the Eckhart Park Skatepark is a strikingly unique destination engineered to honor its past while pushing the boundaries of progression. The Story Behind the Shred What truly sets this park apart is its brilliant thematic design. Built directly over the footprint of Auburn’s historic old public pool, the park embraces its aquatic roots rather than paving them over. Every corner of the park serves as an "Ode to Transition Skateboarding": The Nostalgic Nod: The park features an inlaid mosaic by artist Christy Weezer, authentic pool tile lining, and depth markers etched into the concrete that mimic the aesthetic of a classic swimming hole. The "Mitch Stockwell" Memorial Seating: Dedicated to a passionate local BMX advocate who tragically passed away before construction, the park features a custom-designed seating area. From above, the clever mix of 2D concrete scoring and 3D acid-stained elements merges perfectly into the shape of a complete BMX bike. Key Structural Features Indiana’s Only 3-Pocket Pool: A true crown jewel for transition skaters, this features an authentic pool tile and pool coping setup, giving bowl-riders a gnarly, rare, and deeply satisfying carving experience. The Alien Bowl: An aggressively fun, uniquely shaped bowl variant that offers creative lines, quick pumps, and unexpected transfers. Multi-Elevated Street Course: A sprawling, fluid street plaza equipped with varying elevations, stair sets, ledges, handrails, and flat ground street zones designed to help beginners lock in their fundamentals and experts film their next heavy line. Kidney Bowl Benches: Sculpted, acid-stained concrete benches that offer spectators a front-row seat to the action while doubling as skateable terrain for the highly adventurous. Whether you are dropping in for a deep-pocket pool session, flowing through the multi-level street section, or simply admiring the brilliant architectural nod to DeKalb County history, Eckhart Park Skatepark is a welcoming, high-energy epicenter for skaters, BMX riders, and urban art lovers alike.
