Flushing Meadows Maloof Corona Skatepark

The Flushing Meadows Maloof Corona Skate Park is an outdoor, 16,000-square-foot concrete skate plaza designed to emulate a street skating environment. Constructed over the former Astral Fountain, its design is a deliberate homage to New York City's rich street skating history, featuring a carefully curated collection of replicated iconic skate spots from around the five boroughs. The layout creates a cohesive and challenging course, incorporating multiple stair sets, handrails of varying lengths and sizes (including replicas of the Brooklyn Banks 9-stair rail, Union Square rail and steps, and Police Plaza 7-stair rail), a variety of ledges and hubbas (such as the Ziegfeld ledge and Chrystie Park ledge replicas), numerous banks (including JFK Banks and Con Ed Banks replicas), and an Exchange Place street gap replica. Additional features include A-frames, manual pads, flat bars, pyramids, and a Flushing Meadows Park ledge-over-the-grate replica. The use of concrete ensures durability and a smooth riding experience. The park's integration within the larger Flushing Meadows Corona Park, with views of the New York State Pavilion, provides a unique and scenic backdrop. The design thoughtfully connects various elements, allowing for creative and extended skating lines that mimic the flow of navigating a true urban landscape. The park is not lit for nighttime use and is currently open to the public.
