Freystadt Skatepark
About Freystadt Skatepark
Freystadt Skatepark sits on the Volksfestplatz in Freystadt, Bavaria, in the district of Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz. It is a compact, modular-style public park on a flat asphalt-and-concrete base—smaller than big-city poured-concrete bowls but with a useful blend of transition and street obstacles and a relaxed, local feel. The layout is mainly street-park style: a standalone mini-ramp popular with transition skaters, banks and quarter pipes, and a funbox with ledge and rail, with open space on the festival ground so beginners can practice flatground away from main lines. The site lies beside municipal sports fields and the Volksfestplatz fairgrounds, so it is easy to find. Crowds are usually modest compared with parks in Nuremberg or Munich. Because the plaza hosts community events and festivals, the area can be repurposed temporarily; visitors from farther away may want to check Freystadt’s event calendar so the Volksfestplatz is not closed for a fair during their trip.
