About Kelvingrove Skatepark
Kelvingrove Skatepark is a significant all-concrete structure set within the verdant landscape of Kelvingrove Park. The design thoughtfully integrates both street and transition-style elements to cater to a wide range of users. A prominent feature is a large double bowl section on one side, which includes a speed bowl and a kidney bowl that are linked. The remainder of the skatepark consists of a spacious, open-plan area enclosed by flat banks and bowled edges, creating a variety of lines. This section is populated with an array of street features such as stair sets, staggered ledges, rails, and hips, all set at various levels to provide diverse challenges. The current park, constructed in 2004, replaced the original 1970s 'Kelvin Wheelies' skatepark and was developed with significant input from the local skateboarding community.
