Milligan Skatepark
About Milligan Skatepark
The Milligan Park Skatepark is a well-integrated, medium-sized facility that successfully blends street and transition-style elements to create a dynamic and flowing skate environment. The design reflects a thoughtful approach to accommodating different types of users, a direct result of the public design workshops held prior to its construction. Architecturally, the park is laid out to provide continuous lines and opportunities for creative skating. The plaza section is characterized by its arrangement of ledges, stairs, and rails, allowing for technical street skating. These elements are strategically placed to allow for sequences of tricks. The transition elements are smoothly integrated with the plaza features. The half-bowl and the unique shallow horseshoe quarterpipe provide opportunities for vert and transition skaters to gain speed and perform aerial maneuvers. The presence of the "Westphal Tube" adds a significant and challenging feature to the park's landscape. The overall aesthetic of the park is that of a modern, purpose-built concrete skate plaza. The use of concrete as the primary material ensures durability and a smooth riding surface. The layout encourages a natural flow through the park, allowing skaters to move from one feature to another seamlessly. The collaboration between SITE Design Group, Inc. and Hardcore Skateparks has resulted in a quality construction that has served the Crawfordsville community for over a decade.
