North Beardsley Skatepark

North Beardsley Skatepark, located within North Beardsley Park at 901 Airport Dr, Bakersfield, CA 93308, is an 8,000-square-foot concrete facility that opened in late summer 2018. Designed and constructed by Spohn Ranch Skateparks, it replaced a decommissioned 50-year-old community swimming pool to become a key destination for the Oildale and northern Bakersfield skate scene. The park features a custom multi-depth concrete bowl that utilizes the deep-end excavation footprint left by the former swimming pool. The transition flow is rounded out by surrounding quarter pipes, hips, and pump bumps. The street section forms an open plaza layout featuring flat ledges, a bank-to-ledge, manual pads, flat rails, and flowing bank ramps that integrate smoothly with the surrounding transition elements. Spohn Ranch's design is a textbook example of municipal adaptive reuse, transforming a hazardous abandoned pool site into a fully lighted, multi-discipline concrete park that serves all skill levels while maximizing a limited footprint.
