About Northeast Regional Skatepark
The architectural design of the Northeast Regional Skatepark was intentionally crafted to create a versatile and engaging environment for a wide range of skill levels, from beginners to professionals. The layout promotes a seamless flow between the distinct street and transition sections. The design was conceived to be suitable for hosting events and competitions, with ample space and a variety of features. The park is organized into three main distinguishable areas: a dynamic street plaza, a winding snake run that flows into a bowl, and a large, varied flow course. The inclusion of a partial replica of the renowned Eitnes park bowl, with its specific and challenging features like the full cradle and pool coping, demonstrates a commitment to providing a high-quality and authentic skating experience. The "open door" in the flow course is an innovative architectural element that adds another layer of creativity for skaters. The overall design, as part of the broader Northeast Regional Park master plan, integrates the skatepark into a larger recreational landscape that includes traditional sports facilities and passive leisure areas, all connected by walking trails and supported by necessary amenities. The use of native "wildscaping" and reclaimed water for irrigation in the surrounding parkland also points to an environmentally conscious design approach for the entire regional park.
