About Ocala Skatepark
Completed in early 2026, the newly expanded Ocala Skatepark stands as a testament to what happens when local riders and dedicated designers collaborate to overcome steep challenges. Originally hampered by a compact footprint, overcrowding, and missing essential street elements, the park underwent a massive ~$800,000 transformation designed and built by the Platform Design Group.
Today, the park offers a seamless blend of beginner-friendly zones and professional-grade transition, deeply influenced by the very community that rides it every day.
The Park's Evolution and Design The road to the 2026 expansion was anything but simple. The project faced several unique hurdles, including the mid-project departure of lead designer Tito Porrata to pursue independent ventures. This left the remaining design-build team, spearheaded by Ryan Clements, to navigate the complex dynamics of a passionate local scene.
Initially, local riders pushed heavily for Team Pain—the crew who built the park’s first phase—to secure the phase-two contract due to their renowned expertise in transition and bowls. However, Platform Design Group ultimately won the community's backing by actively listening and adapting their blueprints to address the park's historical "pains."
