Prissick Plaza Skatepark
About Prissick Plaza Skatepark
Prissick Plaza is celebrated for its diverse and highly descriptive terrain, catering to a wide range of skating styles, particularly known for its street plaza elements which replicate famous international skate spots. Key features include replicas of the "Love Park" stairs from Philadelphia, the "MACBA" gap from Barcelona, and "Pier 7" from San Francisco. A significant feature is a left-hand kidney bowl, a replica of the Encinitas bowl in the U.S., with a 6ft shallow end and a 13ft deep end. The expansive street section includes a variety of ledges, rails, stairs, and banks. The "above ground" section features Woodward ramps of various sizes and transitions, including a driveway, escalator, spine, and sub-box. The architectural concept was groundbreaking for its time in Europe, conceived as a "skate plaza" that simulates a streetscape environment, moving away from traditional isolated ramps and bowls. The layout is characterized by a central square with features leading to an upper level, surrounded by banks, quarter pipes, and ledges, providing ample space and a creative layout for numerous lines and reducing overcrowding. The replication of famous skate spots offers unique challenges and embeds the park within global skateboarding culture, making it a destination. Concrete is the primary surface material, ensuring durability and a smooth riding experience.
