About Renaissance Skatepark

Renaissance Park Skate Park, located within Renaissance Park at 1200 W Tyvola Rd in Charlotte, NC 28217, is a compact 4,000-square-foot outdoor concrete facility that officially opened in 2021. Designed and constructed by Spohn Ranch Skateparks, it was Mecklenburg County's first official public skatepark and was originally proposed as the first in a planned series of smaller neighborhood skateparks. The transition elements are strategically integrated to sustain momentum across the small footprint, featuring quarter pipes at both ends of the park and a beginner-friendly bowl designed to accommodate all skill levels. The core functions as a modern street plaza focused on fundamental, flow-oriented urban features including grind ledges, manual pads, a stair set, and flat rails. Spohn Ranch maximized the limited footprint through a linear back-and-forth layout, creating a fully lit pocket-park design that combines approachable street and transition terrain while minimizing bottlenecks and encouraging continuous movement.
