Saughton Skatepark
About Saughton Skatepark
Saughton Skatepark is a significant facility in the UK skate scene, recognized as one of the country's largest outdoor concrete parks. The design is thoughtfully laid out with three primary sections: a transition area, a street section, and a bowl section, all intended to provide a continuous flow for users. The dominant feature of the park is its massive transition section, which is designed to allow riders to maintain momentum and navigate the various elements without the need for pushing. This area includes a diverse mix of features such as a cradle, vert walls, extensions, spines, volcanoes, a speed bowl, roll-overs, and pump bumps. The street section is configured in an L-shape that wraps around the other two sections. It begins with a series of ledges, hubbas, and rails that lead to a flat bank and then up to a pyramid funbox complete with its own rails and hubba. The run continues with a corner that incorporates a hipped bank, another rail, a manny pad, and an extension. The final part of the street course features a flat bank, rail, and hubba, culminating in a bowled corner. Located in a corner of the park is the dedicated bowl section. This consists of a square-shaped bowl with two rounded sections extending from its corners. The rounded portions feature old-school pool coping, with one also having an extension, while the remainder of the bowl is edged with metal coping. The entire bowl has a flat bottom. The park's design caters to all abilities, from beginners to those at a competition standard.
