Skate Park at Scott Carpenter Park
About Skate Park at Scott Carpenter Park
The Boulder Skate Park is a well-integrated and dynamic concrete structure that has evolved to meet the needs of the local skateboarding community. The original 1999 design by Site Design Group laid a foundation with a mix of street and transition elements, including the foundational bowls and street course. The 2021 addition by Evergreen Skateparks was thoughtfully designed to enhance the existing park, adding new obstacles and improving the overall flow. The park's layout encourages long, creative lines with its smooth transitions and interconnected features. The main bowl area is characterized by its numerous walls, banked turns, and rounded pockets that allow skaters to maintain speed and flow seamlessly between different sections of the park. The clover-shaped bowl is a significant feature, offering a variety of depths and shapes within its interconnected pockets, challenging even experienced skaters. The park's aesthetic is heavily influenced by the vibrant and ever-changing graffiti art that covers many of its surfaces, giving it a unique and colorful atmosphere against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. The combination of a dedicated street course, multiple bowls with unique features like a spine and a roll-in, and a central, multi-functional pyramid structure makes the Boulder Skate Park a comprehensive and architecturally diverse facility for skateboarding.
