About Skate Plaza de Ponce

Skate Plaza de Ponce (also commonly called Ponce Skatepark) is a major concrete street-focused facility in Ponce, Puerto Rico, located within Parque de los Caobos. Built around 2012 by Spohn Ranch, it brought a professional-grade skate landscape to the southern region of the island. The park is approximately 12,000 square feet and emphasizes technical street-plaza terrain with a real-street feel. Core obstacles include varied ledges and hubbas, multiple round/square handrails and flat bars, bank and stair combinations, kickers, and low-profile manual pads. Its transition component is an open half-bowl style section (often described as a large mini-ramp/bowl hybrid) integrated into overall flow rather than isolated as a deep standalone bowl. This section supports mid-level transition lines and turnarounds for street runs. The facility has overhead lighting for popular evening sessions and a smooth cast-in-place concrete surface. It is also close to Monagas Skatepark in Parque Julio Enrique Monagas, which offers a different terrain style with wooden ramp elements.
