About Skatepark

The Howelsen Hill Skatepark in Steamboat Springs underwent a major redevelopment and reopened in late 2023 with modern features. Located within the historic Howelsen Hill complex, this above-ground facility was designed with input from local skaters to serve as a progressive training ground for all skill levels. The 6,500-square-foot layout includes street-style ramps, a pyramid, a fun box, and multiple rails. A 6-foot mini-ramp and additional transition sections create a flow that helps novice skaters build confidence before advancing to more technical lines. The park uses a high-quality pre-fab design by American Ramp Company with Skatelite surfaces, which are smoother and more forgiving than traditional metal ramps. Recent upgrades also added a new concrete sidewalk along the front and additional picnic table seating for spectators. Helmets are required for all users, and additional safety pads are strongly recommended.
