About Snedigar Skate Park

The Snedigar Skate Park, designed by SITE Design Group, Inc., is a 35,000-square-foot concrete park emphasizing flow and variety. Its layout integrates a large, open-plan street and freestyle area with two distinct bowl complexes. The sunken street section, surrounded by banks and bowls, creates an amphitheater feel and allows for long, uninterrupted lines. The terrain includes two unique concrete bowls: a smaller, kidney-shaped bowl and a larger, deeper "monster bowl" with a nine-foot deep end, a foot of vertical, a spine, extensions, and escalators. A winding snake run provides a flowing, transitional experience. The sunken street section is outfitted with multiple ledges, banks, standard and kinked handrails, a central funbox with a handrail, an eight-sided, near-vert "volcano" structure, and a rollover hump. A notable feature within the larger bowl is a "speed bump" nicknamed the "Twinkie." There is also a smaller, squared-off bowl with hips and an escalator, suitable for beginners. Transitions throughout the park are key, enabling skaters to generate and maintain speed between features. The placement of the central funbox, volcano, and rollover hump in the street area serves as a focal point and offers a variety of technical challenges. The two bowls are physically separate but thoughtfully located, providing distinct experiences for pool and transition skaters. The larger, more complex bowl is a significant draw for advanced riders, with its combination of deep and shallow sections, a spine, and multiple hips and extensions. The overall design creates a dynamic and engaging environment.
