About Kimball Park Skatepark

Kimball Skate Park, located within Kimball Park at 49 E 16th St, National City, CA 91950, is a 10,000-square-foot concrete facility that opened in early 2016. Replacing an aging set of metal ramps, the permanent park was designed by SITE Design Group and constructed by Spohn Ranch. The park's footprint is primarily dedicated to a linear, plaza-style layout heavily equipped with street elements including stairs, handrails, hubbas, flat rails, ledges, and a Euro gap, separated by flowing banks and pyramids. While mostly street-focused, the park incorporates transition elements such as pump bumps, quarter pipes, and hips to maintain speed and flow across the linear footprint. Its defining characteristic is the stretched-out, interconnected shape. Because the site is sandwiched between a baseball diamond and a drainage canal, SITE Design Group and Spohn Ranch engineered the layout to span a long distance, allowing riders to flow continuously from one obstacle to the next.
