Robb Field Skate Park
About Robb Field Skate Park
As the first skatepark constructed and operated by the City of San Diego, Robb Field Skate Park was designed to be a premier destination for the local skateboarding community. The park's layout, a product of SITE Design Group's expertise and input from local professionals, emphasizes a spacious and open "street course" feel. The architectural design integrates a variety of elements to accommodate different skill levels and styles. The combination bowl serves as a central feature for transition-focused skaters, while the extensive street section with its numerous ledges, rails, and blocks allows for technical trick execution. The inclusion of unique features like the octagon volcano and pump bump adds an element of creativity and challenge to the park's flow. The overall aesthetic is one of a sprawling, interconnected concrete plaza. The various ramps, banks, and hips are arranged to create multiple lines and allow for a continuous flow of movement throughout the park. The scenic location next to the beach provides a pleasant ambiance with ocean breezes. While some users have noted that the transitions can be rough and the maximum height of the bowls is around five feet, the park's vast size and diverse features continue to make it a popular spot for San Diego skaters.
