About Stewart Heights Skatepark

Stewart Heights Skatepark is located within Stewart Heights Park in Tacoma, Washington. The site originally opened in 2001 as a temporary modular wood skatepark, becoming the third skatepark built by Parks Tacoma.

In 2008, the modular facility was replaced with a permanent concrete street plaza. Although the original master plan included a bowl, funding constraints prevented its construction at the time.

The park underwent a major expansion in 2025 when Grindline Skateparks completed the long-planned concrete bowl addition. The new bowl ranges from approximately 4 to 6 feet deep and was integrated with the existing street terrain. The project also included repairs and upgrades to aging street features, supported in part by local advocacy and fundraising efforts. The expanded facility celebrated its grand opening in May 2026 and now offers a mix of street and transition terrain with continuous flow throughout the park.
