Benedict Park Skatepark
About Benedict Park Skatepark
The Benedict Park Skatepark is a modern, multi-faceted concrete facility that seamlessly blends street and transitional elements. The original section, designed by SITE Design Group, Inc., forms the core of the park and is a classic street plaza layout. It features a collection of fundamental street obstacles such as ledges, rails, and gaps, all arranged to encourage fluid lines and skill progression. The recent expansion, masterminded by Evergreen Skateparks, introduces a more organic and flowing dimension to the park. This new section is characterized by its undulating terrain, including a pump track and various "humps" and "curvy humps" that allow users to generate and maintain momentum without excessive pushing. The inclusion of bowls and a volcano provides more transitional and vertical opportunities for skaters. The integration of these new features with the existing plaza creates a dynamic and comprehensive skating experience. The overall design aesthetic is one of functional simplicity, with the gray concrete forms standing in contrast to the surrounding green space of Benedict Park. The layout encourages creative use of the space and provides a platform for a diverse range of action sports.
