Brian Aragon Skate Park
About Brian Aragon Skate Park
The Brian Aragon Skate Park is a thoughtfully designed, all-concrete facility that successfully integrates a diverse range of features to accommodate various action sports, including skateboards, longboards, BMX bikes, scooters, and inline skates. The design philosophy, born from community input, was to create a space with a flow-bowl, a half-pipe area, and a comprehensive street plaza. The park's layout is characterized by its smooth transitions and a good overall flow, making it enjoyable for "cement surfing" and linking together long lines of tricks. The transition areas are dominated by two large and distinct bowls. The main flow bowl, with its over-vert pocket and convenient roll-in, allows for creative lines and high-speed carving. The second, deeper amoeba/pool-style bowl, with its pool-style coping and tiles, offers a more traditional pool-skating experience, enabling riders to pump for speed in its unique shape. The street section is a multi-tiered plaza that descends through a series of stairs, rails, and ledges, including a seven-stair set with a "crazy" rail, a six-stair set with a wide, square rail, and a three-stair set. This area, while potentially narrow and challenging for beginners, provides a plethora of obstacles for more experienced street skaters, such as various ledges, manual pads, ramps, and boxes. The inclusion of a rounded bowl pocket within the street course creates a seamless flow between the street and transition elements.
